Lukashenko: Democracy, as it is understood, does not exist in any country

BREST, 22 June (BelTA) – Democracy, as it is understood, does not exist in any country, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he talked to the personnel of the 38th Brest Independent Guards Air Assault Brigade in Brest on 22 June, BelTA has learned.

It is always fierce competition, especially in economy that is at the heart of everything, the head of state stressed. “When you hear talk about some democracy, you should understand that democracy, as we understand it, does not exist in any country,” said Aleksandr Lukashenko. In particular, he cited the examples of response to the Yellow Vests movement in France, and also the recent events in the United States.

Thus, in France both the police and the military were called to restore order. The United States also dealt with unrests in a tough way: curfews were imposed in a number of cities and troops were brought in.

The head of state also recalled the recently updated Military Doctrine of Belarus, which has been brought in line with modern challenges. “I will remind you once again: we will not fight at the front, there Will be no such wars. These are local wars. Hybrid wars. It is not just shooting (that is to happen later). Everything starts with information wars, and we can see it today,” he said.
