CSTO Ministerial Council to hold video conference on 26 May

The Ministerial Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) will hold a videoconference meeting on 26 May, CSTO spokesman Vladimir Zainetdinov told BelTA.

“The foreign ministers will review the state and prospects of the international and regional situation and its impact on the security of the CSTO member states, the cooperation of the CSTO with the CIS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization,” the spokesman said.

Special attention will be paid to the interaction of the CSTO member states on the international track, the development of the CSTO peacekeeping capacity and the CSTO observer and partner institutions, and the joint response to modern challenges and security threats,” Vladimir Zainetdinov added.

The foreign ministers are planning a number of joint statements, in particular on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, on reaffirming the adherence to the goals and principles of the UN Charter. In addition, the agenda will include the draft documents on the plan of consultations for the second half of this year, the first half of 2021, and the distribution of positions quotas in the CSTO Secretariat.

“We view the upcoming meeting of the CSTO Ministerial Council as the next stage of the development of allied cooperation in the organization,” the spokesman added.

The capabilities of the CSTO Crisis Response Center will be used to hold the Ministerial Council meeting. The meeting will be attended by CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas.
