Belarus fulfills necessary interstate procedures for 90% of CIS agreements
Belarus is one of few CIS countries that ratified almost all the agreements signed within the Commonwealth, Chairman of the Permanent Commission on the CIS International Affairs and Relations of the Chamber of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Vadim Popov told journalists. Vadim Popov, heading the parliamentary delegation, took part in a meeting with the leadership of the Commonwealth Executive Committee in Minsk. According to the deputy, Belarus has carried out all necessary interstate procedures for 90% of the documents. Just to compare: as of September 1, 2007 Russia ratified and fulfilled interstate procedures for 55.6% of the CIS agreements, Ukraine – 55.7%, Kazakhstan – 69.7%, Tajikistan – 80.3%. Vadim Popov considers that the major task of the CIS parliamentarians is to set up “a full and universal legal field working for the benefit of all structures and states”. All CIS agreements will come into force only after its member-states implement all necessary interstate procedures. The CIS Executive Committee says that as of September 1, 2007 the Commonwealth adopted 1.681 documents, of them 450 were terminated afterwards. Some 82% of the documents came into force after their signing, other 18% are international agreements that need ratification or other interstate procedures.
