Within 2-2.5 years Bereza Silicate Products Factory should be upgraded to international standards, said President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko during a working trip around the Brest oblast on September 14. According to the President, within one year Bereza Silicate Products Factory should build a new line for manufacturing gas silicate building blocks compliant with European standards. Then the company should be fully remodelled. Major Belarusian company Triple LLC has expressed interest in investing in the development of Bereza Silicate Products Factory. The President examined production facilities of Bereza Silicate Products Factory. After deciding to change his schedule the head of state went to see neglected territories near the factory and abandoned premises and made critical remarks in connection with the company’s neglect of the production facilities while its products sell quite well. Alexander Lukashenko called upon successful businessmen, who had moved to Minsk, to remember their native land and invest in building and setting up new companies and social infrastructure in their native places. The President promised the necessary assistance of the state. He said this so-called socially responsible business will bring benefits to all the parties. Open joint-stock company Bereza Silicate Products Factory is undergoing financial rehabilitation procedures after a severe crisis experienced prior to 2003. Despite certain difficulties the measures taken to turn round the company resulted in a positive balance sheet and small profits in 2004. This year the company’s profit margin is expected to equal 25%. Meanwhile, the company has to deal with the problem of retooling the main production facilities and installing the new line for manufacturing gas silicate building blocks compliant with European standards. Alexander Lukashenko also visited the site where a multipurpose sports complex is supposed to be built. The facility will house a swimming pool, an ice rink, a multifunctional hall fit for training sessions as well as concerts and other public events.
