Oxford students learn Belarusian information technologies
Oxford students use distance learning to study the discipline “Information Technologies in the Republic of Belarus”. The courses are led by Mikhail Borisevich, head of the Computer Education Department of the Vitebsk State Veterinary Medicine Academy, assistant professor, Candidate of Physics and Maths, corresponding member of the Belarusian Engineering Academy, full member of Oxford University. Mikhail Borisevich explained, Belarusian professors employ Internet technologies to offer courses in higher mathematics, global information technologies and applied maths to UK students. The courses were arranged by the Vitebsk State Veterinary Medicine Academy (VSVMA) while lectures, tests and lab tasks were developed by the VSVMA in association with the Management Academy under the President of the Republic of Belarus. This academic year the distance learning for Oxford students will start in the second semester. Distance learning the VSVMA offers is not limited to UK students. The technology is used to teach correspondence students of the VSVMA, career enhancement students and of course full-time students. Roughly $40,000 has been spent by the national budget and the VSVMA to equip one distance learning classroom. Another such classroom will be opened soon.
