Orsha, Polotsk to be united with their districts
MINSK, 14 January (BelTA) – Orsha and Polotsk will be united with their districts. President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko signed relevant Decree No. 27 “Concerning unification of districts and towns of oblast subordination of the Republic of Belarus having a common administrative center” on 14 January, BelTA learned from the presidential press service. The document envisages the unification of Orsha District and the town of Orsha, Polotsk District and the town of Polotsk. The decree aims to enhance the state administration system, ensure comprehensive development of the administrative and territorial units of the basic territorial level. Preconditions for the unification have been formed within the past years. Therefore, healthcare, ecological, communication facilities, military registration and enlistment offices, regional offices of the Emergencies Ministry, courts, notarial offices and other facilities which are common for the town and the district have been merged into single organizations providing services to the district and town. The concentration of material and financial resources will promote development of rural areas, improve working conditions of economic operators, and help promptly solve issues of social an economic development of the towns and districts to be united. This will also help optimize management, reduce the upkeep of administrative bodies, guarantee equal access to the social infrastructure for town residents and country dwellers.
